Neighbors

To my unappreciative neighbors, (whichever direction you're from), who just showed me their distaste in me jamming out to the 1970's R&B Classics album by pounding on your ceiling or wall, you can bite me. It's 5 o'clock and I'm enjoying myself some Marvin Gaye and Dobie Gray. I suggest you buy ear plugs if you don't like it. Cuz guess what? Whichever neighbor you may be, I get to listen to your disgusting coughing, your loud, obnoxious phone conversations, or your baby crying at all hours of the day and night. So.....unless you want me pounding around when you do it.......I suggest you suck it up. If I decide to jam out after the hours of 10 p.m., then feel free to call the police on me. It wouldn't be the first time. Just sayin.....

Whitney Houston vs. American Soldiers

I have to comment on the whole Whitney Houston debate considering that I've been hearing the same thing over and over again. Why are they making such a big deal over Whitney Houston's death when there are soldiers dying and that doesn't make the headlines? Here's why: Whitney Houston is a celebrity. One that was and for most people, still is, incredibly well known. She's a house hold name. I perso...nally grew up listening to her music and pretending that I had a voice like that. I'm not saying that the deaths of American soldiers aren't important. What I am saying is that you can't expect the entire country or the world to know the names of each individual that dies at war. Their sacrifice to the country is amazing and incomparable. They are heroes. Each one of those soldiers has a town that they came from and friends and family who celebrate their lives and mourn their loss as a community. I know that America's priorities are screwed up, but what's new? I mean, really. This happens when every celebrity dies. It's sad at first, very repetitive, and begins to get a little annoying, I admit. There are other things going on in the world that need the same amount of attention. But, I guess the point I'm trying to make is that you can't expect every person in America to know the names and to feel the same way about someone that they didn't know. Along with that, you have to remember, Whitney Houston was a human being. She had friends and family who loved her and she obviously had a serious problem with drugs. For those of you have experienced that yourselves or know someone who has, it's not funny at all. It's devastating for everyone involved. Imagine what her mother and daughter are going through right now, not to mention everyone else who knew and loved her. I'm just sayin........

Planned Parenthood

I just have to get up on my soap box for a few seconds and say something about the whole Planned Parenthood discussion. This upsets me. I completely understand if you're someone that believes that Abortion is immoral. I won't argue your point, whether I completely agree with it or not. However, I will say this. I was one of those girls that had crappy health insurance that wouldn't pay for my exam...s and I needed a place like Family Planning in Sheridan and Planned Parenthood in Billings that would take donations only or very little money from me. Had I not had a place like that to go, I wouldn't have been able to afford it at all. We're talking about preventative practices in terms of unwanted pregnancies and STI's as well. Lets not forget about HPV, which 80% of women will have in their lifetime. Several of these strains can lead to cervical cancer if not detected soon enough. So, you tell me what you want a young girl to do in that situation when she has no other option because Planned Parenthood has had their funding taken away. I am blessed enough to have a job now where I have health insurance and I can go to whatever facility I choose, but I would NEVER want to take that right away from any girl who didn't have the option. Just sayin......
